Sylvan Lake’s Population

Sylvan Lake is a place for all ages.  Twenty years ago, Sylvan Lake was dubbed as being a summertime vacationer village and resort town for retired wealthy mid-westerners. Fast-forward to 2014 and you have modern Sylvan Lake.

The town’s population has grown over 20 per cent in the past 10 years. This population jump has brought in diverse crowds of all ages who want to take advantage of all that Sylvan Lake has to offer.

Sylvan Lake has elementary and secondary schools with highly qualified instructors. Our schools are such an essential part of the community and we take pride in the high level of education that we are able to provide.

Red Deer College is less than a 30 minute drive from the waterfront of Sylvan Lake. It offers tons of incredible full-time and part-time programs for students with varied interests.

Sylvan Lake attracts families and individuals of all ages because of all it has to offer. Who wouldn’t want to live in a town where beach nights keep summer lively and skating on the pristine lake ice brightens the winter months?

Families with young children can take advantage of the parks and playgrounds throughout the town as well as the many day-camps held over the summer and winter school breaks.

Teens can enjoy the waterslides by the beach and the many beachfront shops as well as local sports teams such as hockey, soccer, and swimming.

Young adults will thrive in the business sector of Sylvan Lake. No matter what industry you are involved in, there are plenty of opportunities in our town.

Seniors will enjoy the many community groups available for them to join and the close proximity to major cities which offer many senior vacations and tours. The beach and many nearby walking trails are a great way to exercise during the day and the Aquatic centre offers year-round fitness classes.
